Nature

The land relief of the council of Coaña is basically determined by its location, the Cantabrian coast to the north, and Navia river to the east.

The sea is associated directly to the flat coastline and the Navia river is connected to the shape and arrangement of the most distant relieves from the sea.

Inland, the most important mountains and hill ranges are Sierra de la Vidriosa (Vidriosa mountain range) and El cordal de Coaña (Coaña hill range) are the most important.

The highest points are the following:

JARRIO’S PEAK 365 m.
ABARA’S PEAK 541m.
VIDRIOSA MOUNTAIN RANGE 641 m
AGUILA’S PEAK (EAGLE’S PEAK) 575 m.

However, the highest point in the council is located in Coaña hill range (741,5 m.) between Chao de Fontebranca and Sella Fermosa Field.

From Jarrio’s Peak and Bustabernego viewpoints we can have broad panoramas over Coaña and part of the area included in the Parque Histórico del Navia (Navia river Historic District).
